Wann bist du dankbar? Es gibt viele Menschen, welche erst dann dankbar sind, wenn sie etwas bekommen haben. Aber Dankbarkeit beginnt schon im Geben. Sei vielleicht dankbar, dass du etwas geben kannst?! Was meinst du? Oder ist die Gier oder der Neid viel zu groß etwas verlieren zu können bzw. es könnte ja dem anderen besser gehen als mir selbst?! Der Kreislauf des Flusses beginnt immer mit dem Geben! Denn auch deine Mutter hat dir dein Leben geschenkt!!! So here's the VERY simplified lowdown : we have this crazy part of our nervous system called the vagus nerve that infiltrates our mind and body and controls our stress response system. Depending on our unique self it flings us around into flight, fight or freeze mode on its whim, triggering us often without warning or conscious reason. The scary part is that we have almost no control over it - it's autonomic (or in more layman's terms it is on auto pilot). It's like being stuck permanently on a roller coaster with no apparent control switch - sometimes its fun and full of laughs and then next second it’s flinging you over the precipice screaming, crying, vomiting. And repeat. The good part of this though is that we have one secret tool that we can use as the break on the whole system. With a few simple motions we can bring our roller coaster back to the station and restore calm to our internal fun (or not so fun) fair. It’s a simple as inhalation and exhalation. Our breathing is the one part of our autonomic nervous system that we can actually control and quietening it in turn quietens our entire vagal nervous system bringing us back to rest. In yoga we call it pranayama. Slow controlled breathing. Try it. Next time you're ready to go into battle with your partner or fellow road user, get ready to storm out of the room, lie to avoid conflict, turn a blind eye, blame, hate, fear, zone out, get defensive, take a deep breath in and slow breath out. Feel how your vagus nerve from the back of your head, down your spine and into your organs starts to relax. Feel how the roller coaster drifts into a slow gentle carousel ride. With your one hand on your chest and the other on your belly, slowly breathe in to the count of four feeling your chest and belly rise. Breathe out really slowly the count of eight feeling your belly and chest drop. Se practica generalmente al final y su propósito es integrar los beneficios de la sesión de yoga en esa posición de relajación absoluta y consciente, y esto es lo que la convierte en una de las más complicadas. Her coaching allowed me the space to step back and see my life from another perspective. Anxiety and negative self talk are so often delusions we identify with and belief as truth. Ceri not only challenged me on these limiting beliefs but she also laid out practical steps to work through them. As well as this she also introduced to me various tools to improve productivity and take care of my mental and physical health. This included dietary advice, morning/evening routines and meditation to name a few. I found Ceri and her coaching to be incredibly empathetic, informed and practical.
