There are the kinds of people that follow the rules; and the kinds that say, "Well nothing says DON'T do it..." Yup.
I'm somewhere in between the two.
What about you?đ

Arctostaphylos x media
A naturally occurring hybrid of Arctostaphylos columbiana and Arctostaphylos uva-ursi. This is a great plant in the garden, being a little more robust than Kinnikinnick and more free-flowing than the Hairy Manzanitađťđ
I achieved my hiking goal for the year which was to hike 444 miles. I feel like itâs been a rough year - concussion and recovery, my poor knees are feeling all the past injury and lack of cartilage left, depression always lurking trying to get the best of me, burnout trying to do all the things and being too stubborn to ask for help .... So Iâve been taking more time to rest, to actively play, to be curious, to meditate, to be intentional, to be present, to limit my social media and expand my in person social calendar when I have the energy to do so. And somehow - through it all, I managed to pass my goal with half a month left to go in the year. I know the 444+ miles this year have helped me because even on the darkest days - being on a trail is discoveries of joy, life lived, the sights, the smells, the crisp air, the body pushing another mile..: itâs moments shared with friends and family and moments of stillness when I am alone. Thankful for another day, another year, a full life of adventure .... and rest when I am tired. I love that I can have both.
Or maybe love them from afar? But definitely donât marry them đ I will tell you this: my husband has always been the wind beneath my wings. The tools. The foundations of my work and art have been lovingly gifted from him. A few examples: barn boots for a job when I worked in communications for dairy farmers. My easel - my beautiful, treasured easel. My laptop - old now but necessary at the time it was given. He has always found ways to support the things in my life that bring me happiness....
