This was a week of photoshoots! First, with the amazing Heidi and Tara of @InHerImage Photography. I did an awesome 2-hour brand shoot and I can't wait to share the images we created!!
Then today, I was the model for @Wendykyalom's Masterclass for 9 gorgeous women photographers.
The first one was in Petaluma in Heidi and Tara's gorgeous studio and also out in nature where the most amazing thing happened. A deer came up behind me and was in the frame! I really hope that photo came out and the deer is clear in the image. Heidi said she hadn't experienced that ever before!
For the second shoot this morning, we were in a studio and then on the streets of San Francisco--in a doorway, along a really cool external wall of black tile, and in front of a locked gate which had a person with a super cute dog come out in the middle of the shoot.
Silver hair, leather pants, and open hearts was the key to this being a profound, fun, empowering experience!
I learned to own my beauty on the street, as joggers and moms with strollers passed for me. Even got a friendly catcall with made us all smile...
AND, in between those shoots, I took pictures of my beautiful client who has an ambivalent relationship to being photographed but sure brought her warmth, sparkle, joy, soulfulness, and beauty to the I took!
I used to think being photographed was for vanity and superficial pursuits, or practical purposes like passports. Today, I am humbled, and grateful for the transformational power of photography, inviting us to be witnessed and share with others as we take up space and own our beauty!
Nothing is better than listening to a band performing live. Been a while since I posted a throwback photo so here’s one from 4 years ago of @aloharadio performing on a late night talk show I used to shoot for.
