RECIPE by @bosh.tv THE SHIITAKE 2 cups shiitake mushrooms 1/4 cup corn starch 1/4 cup groundnut oil THE SAUCE 1 tbsp sesame oil 2 garlic cloves 1 inch ginger 2 tbsp brown sugar 2 tbsp rice vinegar 1 tsp corn starch 1/4 cup soy sauce 1 tsp sriracha . INSTRUCTIONS Mix the shiitake mushrooms with corn starch and sauté in groundnut oil, set aside. Sauté the garlic and ginger in the sesame oil. While stirring, add brown sugar, rice vineagar, cornstarch, soy sauce and sriracha. Bring to a boil, and when the sauce has thickened, add the shiitake and let the sauce get really thick and sticky😋 Serve with rice and top with fresh scallions and sesame seeds😋 . . To lose weight, you must create a calorie deficit by eating fewer calories than you burn. This is why I recommend my clients to stick to healthy diet in conjunction with x3 vigorous forms of exercise per week to really help kick start their metabolism and aid with a successful weight loss. I also recommend you have cheat days, cheat meals and rest and recovery days, ensure you’re drinking enough water and getting adequate sleep. These all contribute to a successful weight loss. Stress is also another factor to consider. It’s essential to take time out for you. On the plus exercise increases serotonin and endorphins which helps alleviate stress, anxiety and depression- so never give up. Nutrient-dense foods pack fiber, lean protein, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and other beneficial compounds like phytochemicals. These include foods like dairy, beans, legumes, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and lean meats and fish. Many of these foods are also rich in fiber and contain a high percentage of water. Water and fiber help increase feelings of fullness, which can help you eat fewer total calories throughout the day. Try having a glass of water before every meal, it helps you to not over eat. Protein promotes feelings of fullness, spares muscle loss and has the highest thermic effect, meaning it takes more calories to digest compared to carbs or fats. Aaron Dickerson was in this weekend to present his case study for the Level 4 Advanced Personal Trainer qualification and showed us his clients progress video 🤩 . This isn’t an in and out qualification, we began with this group in August 2019 and they completed in Jan 2020. The process involves a detail evaluation of a clients progress over 12 weeks with intermittent meetings with our tutors to discuss any concerns or just to get clarification on programming . Aaron has done just that by working on his clients weakness and not rushing to load him up, which has resulted in significant improvements and a foundation that can now be built upon 👏🏼 . 👆🏼 USE IT OR LOSE IT ❗️ ⠀ I’ve lost count the amount of times I’ve rehabilitated this squat - but it’s definitely too many! ⠀ And that’s because I don’t use it or train it enough to move my baseline 🙎🏻‍♀️ ⠀ “What’s a baseline?” ⠀ Good question; ⠀ 📌 Your baseline would be whatever you were capable of, on any given day, without notice or preparation. ⠀ Let’s take running as an example 🏃🏻‍♀️ ⠀ My running baseline is a maximum distance of about 10km at a very slow speed (just a bit faster than walking 🚶🏻‍♀️lol), however someone else’s baseline maybe a sub 4hr marathon - but they’ll have trained themselves to get to that point - the difference is, if you train CONSISTENTLY enough you move the baseline, meaning you hold a higher bottom level standard, whilst continuing to work on your upper level capabilities. ⠀ 🔑 Key part to note there; that doesn’t mean you can train for one marathon, smash a sub 4 hour time and be able to do that for the rest of your life without any more training, it means you do said marathon, and as you continue to train and advance your upper capabilities your lower (baseline) abilities will naturally improve over time. ⠀ Did that make sense 🤔...I’m carrying on with the story anyway. ⠀ My squat baseline is to just be broken 😣 and that is because I suffered a double functional scoliosis after breaking my elbow - both my hips and shoulders were pulling and curving my spine in two different directions 😬👈🏼👉🏼 ⠀ In order for me to hold a good squat baseline, one that is pain free, where I’m able to activate all the right muscle groups AND develop leg strength and power is actually quite the task! 🥵 ⠀ But if I don’t consistently train and use my squat pattern, my progress disappears and I regress quickly. ⠀ If I want to stick and move my baseline, I’ve got to USE IT and practice more often - so here I am, making 25kg look like 80kg 💪🏼 ⠀ #shesquats #notoftenenough #scoliosis
