I am so incredibly happy. Look who has found her way back to me after migrating up north. My beautiful #paintedbunting. Perhaps just perhaps this is a male. Several different markings that I have never seen on the females. They all start out green so we will wait and see. Either way I am in love. Would be wonderful to see the boys and girls playing together in the garden 🥰 #bird#birdwatcher#perhapswehaveamale?? #photography 💚
Painted Bunting (Passerina ciris) - all the attention typically goes to the male of this species which has some of the most colorful and striking plumage of any passerine in North America (look it up). This female, on the other hand, is a gorgeous olive and leafy green...perfect for camouflage in the dense, shrubby thickets in which they nest.
There are two disjunct populations of these species in North America which can distinguished on the photo of the distribution map on the last slide.
This bird is currently on the move from her breeding range in the maritime hammocks and scrub communities of the coastal plain of Georgia, the Carolinas, and northeastern Florida to the Caribbean.
Hi! I'm kind of bad at posting but here are #birdtober days 9 and 10 :)
I hope that no matter what life is bringing your way, you have good supports to help! If you don't have a support, I'll be your support! My words of wisdom: Take things at your pace. If you're going too fast, you can feel rushed and decline mentally. It's okay to stop and smell the flowers (and draw the birds). #inktober#paintedbunting#wren#birds
Day 10 a bit late. My process in procreate is changing a bit with every drawing I make. I enjoy it and the challenge of birds!
My Painted Bunting for #birdtober, day 10. I am struggling to keep up with a bird a day but I am keeping at it. It totally helps that Dylan is doing it with me and she is awesome at keeping up. She is always ready. Life definitely pulls me in many directions and I have missed finding time to do something just for me each day. I love birds and learning to paint so this is good right now.
Day 10- Painted Bunting. I had never heard of this bird before birdtober. It's so crazy colorful! 😍 I'm taking a break after this bird, as I am not particularly interested in painting the next group. I'll probably do a flamingo then pick up at day 22 with Quail!
