A couple years back now I was asked to compose music to some beautiful old rongo (song in Moriori) from the 1800’s by the lovely @humuana & Maui from #hokotehi marae ❤️ with the help of a very close friend Paora Pohatu we helped to make this happen 🙏🏾
I’m proud to say I’ll be coming home to #chathamislands as part of the #moriori language rejuvenation program with @universityofotago to do location filming for these precious rongo and also to play alongside the amazing #taongapūoro on the 29th @ kopinga marae (all welcome).
Amongst other awesome activities.
This is one of the rongo that we composed music to. It is a canoe song called ‘I ara pehe nā rangi te taura’ written by one called ‘rangi te taura’
We went for a cook island theme on this rongo with a rowing rhythm to capture their actions on the in their Waka... I cannot wait to come home for this thank you all for this amazing opportunity. I’m truely humbled. 🙏🏾 see you soon #whanau me rongo ❤️ #moriori#language#rongo#roots#home#prayer#native#chathamislander
The best part of this job is when I see the sheer pleasure on someone’s face after they have experienced a unique scent we have created for them. #comingsoon ~ a #worldfirst candle fragrance we created for Australia’s leading furniture retailer that showcases Australia’s classic and rare botanical heritage @nau_design by @cultdesignau
