There was a time in my younger years I was vulnerable, I was naive and I got myself into trouble with one of my first jobs - the manager at the cafe paid me $20 (yes, $20) for 20 hours of work. I didn’t know how to stand up for myself in that situation so I just accepted and let it go. Thinking back, I didn’t know how to speak up - but I’ve learnt my lesson and not let people take advantage of me for some things now. Learning to speak up for myself didn’t take an overnight process, it takes years to build a strong self esteem, and confidence in oneself. I’m glad I had to go through what I had to go through or else I wouldn’t have learnt a big lesson from it.
