Can you dig?

Sunn 0))) (pronounced "sun") fifth studio release, Black One (2005). When getting into more experimental music when I first started to delve deeper into music and learning about these genres, few genres were as difficult to get into more than drone, but this album was the one of the few that made it all "click" for me. Black One is an incredible album with a plethora of sounds from various genres such as drone, black metal, noise and dark ambient. It creates an immense harrowing world as you listen, you can get heavily immersed into the atmosphere this album creates. I think the album cover as well as the artwork inside depecit the sounds perfectly with it's colourless, eerie images. Vocalists from U.S. black metal bands Leviathan (Wrest) and Xasthur (Malefic) also make appearances on this album, as if it wasn't brooding enough. I highly recommend this album to anyone looking to get into drone! An incredible album, also an essential album, that is one of the most haunting albums I've heard to this day. (The last two tracks specifically, Cry for the Weeper and Bathory Erzsebet, are amazing and suggest those two tracks to try it out.)
