Dear July, when we met the first time a few years ago in Berlin, I told you that my english would be limited. But I like you very much, you know that, so I will try my best to give you some impressions of my life while we are separated.
You often asked me: How is it like, when you are sitting in your hotel room writing and thinking, do you feel lonely?
Loneliness is the ability of a reporter to fall deep in his thoughts without feeling lost and without suffering. You have to endure this loneliness, otherwise you can not do this profession. That's the best way I can describe my state of mind.
So, after meeting Mr. Stiglitz, I had to transcribe our recording, what means that I am actually sitting for hours in my room in the Beacon Hotel typing over 50.000 letters in a word-document. They want me to afford them an interview with maximum 16.000 letters. They gave me three days to complete my work. Now and then I take a break and walk through the Avenues nearby. I make pictures of people and lights. That's how my day is like, when I am far away from you, lonely but not lost. Take care, V.

Dear July,
how are you? This is a picture of my room in the Beacon Hotel on Broadway and 75th Street I did the day after interviewing Mr. Stiglitz. The Beacon was build in 1929 and has a theatre included, that is listed in the register of historic places of NYC. In 2006 The Rolling Stones gave two concerts in the Beacon which later were parts of Scorseses movie about them. At that night Jackson Browne was playing in the theatre, but I had not enough money to pay it. I switched the computer on and searched some old Browne songs in YouTube and found that one here, that I really, really love (https://youtu.be/GuCLOvzvRjc) and made me think of you. But all of the very beautiful circumstances should not hide the fact, that after work (talking) the real work now has to be done (typing and thinking).
Always yours, V.
