But it’s Friday though. 😂 Just Teach was my shirt for today. I should of gotten a “Just Learn”. My students were like man do you ever get tired of teaching? Uhhh no.
Oh so I get it, Friday the learning suppose to stop because it’s going into the weekend. Ohhh. Ok. I am suppose to plan the day with no teaching and just chilling. Ok. Lol! Y’all if I missed the memo. Please comment below! Because ya girl is confused !
Anyway, my week in a nutshell:
• I have to relearn a lot of my content which is why I have been extremely busy because I have to learn it and plan for it , rather than already knowing it and just planning it. Transparency moment: Geometry is my weakness but no thanks to my friend who pushes me to better (lol kidding! I’m glad she is like that) I have to teach it because I have to get stronger.
If you don’t admit that you have a weak area of content. You are gonna let the years by pass and failed at reaching the highest potential of yourself and students. • I Can say that those first couple weeks of school is gone and 1 out of the 3 classes my foot is still on their necks 😂 but the other classes is like heaven on earth (sometimes). So all I’m saying is DON’T 👏🏾LET 👏🏾UP.
Just Teach:
- teach them to learn -teach them to care
-teach them life lessons - teach them to love [insert subject]

Construct a tangent to the circle at the point A, using TWO lines only.

The task has six different 2-move solutions. They are based on four auxiliary points that can be constructed using one of six lines.

[1] AB = 4 - diameter
[2] BD = 4 - by construction
[3] Considering [1] and [2], AB = BD
[4] < ABC = < CBD - subtend equal arcs
[5] BC - common side
[6] △ABC ≅ △DBC by SAS (side-angle-side)
[7] < CDB = 90° by construction, therefore < CAB = 90° (CPCTC)
It follows that the line AC is tangent.

=> AB = BD
< ABC = < CBD - т.к. опираются на равные дуги
BC - общая сторона
Треугольники ABC и DBC равны по двум сторонам и углу между ними (первый признак равенства треугольников).
< CDB = 90° - прямой (по построению), а значит и < CAB тоже, т.к. треугольники равны.
Из этого следует, что прямая AC является касательной. ⠀

Tried a collaborative activity today called "one sheet study guides" from ispeakmath.org and ended the day pretty content! I facilitated the activity four times and all four went differently, but this what my A+ process:
★Split the unit into 6 subtopics. Gave one to each of the 6 groups and they had to make a poster for it using notes, HW, etc. ★Gave each student a piece of paper and folded them into 4s. The first square was a title box, then one for each of the 6 topics, then the last box was for a self-reflection. ★Students did a gallery walk of the posters to fill in missing info. I kept up some posters from previous classes to supplement info if I saw a weaker poster. -----
Overall: loved it! I would like to do this again earlier in the year to get the procedure familiar. It's a great strategy that students can apply to any class and learning situation! ----

Have you ever used the "edit the master" feature on Google Slides? I used it to make these interactive task cards for my class! Under the "View" menu you will see "Master" and if you click it you can open up and edit the different layouts that are available on Slides. You can use this as a hack to change the background to make things uneditable for students! I used it to make the task and answers uneditable on my digital task cards. Then I made rectangles that were moveable so I could cover the answers and my students could move them to check their work. .

Today we abstracted the steps of graphing the different forms of linear equations. Then we did a gallery walk and tallied our votes on which ones were the best. Looking at a math problem and “generalizing” how to solve it requires extra brain power and it made them uncomfortable, but they all at least tried and I’m pretty proud of the progress my students are making being able to justify an answer and not just get the answer. #madeyouthink#mathmolly#iteach#hsmath#linearequations
