Post #2, again about lunch! This page was inspired by the trouble I was having with lunch, I don't usually have time to eat it when I'm not with baby on weekdays, so it's not really on my radar. We've got breakfast and dinner pretty well dialed in, I'll post about those sometime soon. . . Today's menu is a simple but delicious and healthy sandwich! I toasted the bread in a pan with coconut oil, then put on peanut and almond butters, raw honey, banana, and chia seeds. But what made this meal share-worthy is the kale powder we added. This stuff is pretty magical, 2yo Emmett pointed it out on the grocery store shelves and loves it like crazy. . . He eats it straight. When we got home from the store he asked for it when he saw it come out of the bag, I put a little on my finger and was like "OK I'm not going to tell you you're not going to like this but…" and he loved it. It's actually really good, not like actual kale, though that's the only ingredient. I don't get it. But it doesn't matter. Any healthy and mild tasting powders will do, a little spare Alina, chlorella a, or a dried fruit or superfood powder. This kid. He is my reason. . . He is also my excuse. . . If you’ve been following us awhile, you’ve read some of my posts about his separation anxiety. We were blessed enough to meet some wonderful people in California (shoutout to @tereb41 for working miracles!) who helped us conquer his fear of leaving me (or dad). We were lucky enough to not need daycare so gym time was the only part of his day where we were separated. It was perfect for his socialization and my sanity (🤣). . . But with our recent move across country, the anxiety had returned with a vengeance. 😭 I started skipping the gym because I didn’t want to hear the screaming. If he knew we were going, he’d get wound up HOURS before we’d leave with whining, crying, and begging not to go. I was lost. I could not figure out what it was that upset him so much, but I also knew that this couldn’t continue. When asked, his only answer was, “I don’t want to be alone.” Even though I knew he never was truly alone, it broke my heart. But we had to re-conquer this and find his confidence. . . (Side story) I decided I needed a break from the veterinary field. Fifteen years, with 8 in the ER... I couldn’t handle it anymore. So with this big move, I decided that there was no better time to pursue something else I’m passionate about... FITNESS! Zumba was always the highlight of my week, and it just felt perfect. So I got the training and I’m now a licensed instructor! (And a huge bonus.. I could bring my kids to work!) It couldn’t be a better fit.... w/the exception of his crippling anxiety😭 . . Fast forward to present day... we’ve had some of the worst meltdowns I’ve ever observed w/him. And I honestly don’t blame him! A huge move, new faces, new kids club... a total nightmare for him. But w/ Pre-K underway, we had to get this. I am fortunate enough to work w/another group of MIRACLE workers and we had a decent week! He hasn’t cried since Monday, and the only thing I can think of is that Ms Debbie showed him a map of the gym (where he was vs where I was). He keeps talking about it! 🙏 . . Anyway.. I know kids are HARD. It is SO discouraging when they act up. Just don’t give up. For them and for you ♥️

Did you also know that these shifted bones migrate back into place when the head balloons straight after birth ? This is why we believe that the head should not be touched at all during and straight after birth — as the body needs to intelligently reposition these bones ! 🙌🏽 Sometimes, however, these “tectonic plate” bones have trouble sliding back into place, causing children and even adults to battle with symptoms later on on life. Happy Thursday! I’ve decided I am not leaving the kitchen this week... Since going gluten and dairy free/ making healthy choices I have really enjoyed baking, more than I ever did as a kid. Well I’ve been gone for the last several days really enjoying my time at my family reunion. Then, I get back on Instagram yesterday and frankly could hardly stand to look at what I was seeing. Weight Watchers, @ww has created a program via an app for children to lose weight. I DO NOT care how they or others are spinning this so don’t come on here telling me it’s to help children learn to eat healthily because IT’S NOT. Hi, my name is Kylie Russell and I did Weight Watchers for FIFTEEN YEARS. When I began, I was a sweet, happy, dare-I-say HEALTHY, and chubby little girl. Here’s what happened when I did weight watchers: 1. I lost weight!! 2. I became obsessed with my body. 3. People were nicer to me! I received TONS of praise and compliments! 4. I became TERRIFIED of gaining back the weight/letting people down. 5. I spent birthdays worried about how much cake I should eat-if I should even have cake. 6. I asked for diet chocolate in my Easter basket and Christmas stocking. 7. I was miserable every holiday, every outing, every family event. 8. I began comparing my body to EVERYONE-family, friends and celebrities. 9. I gained the weight back over and over and over and over and over again and HATED myself for it every time. 10. I developed an eating disorder. And last but, not least- I did NOT become healthier. The idea that we need to “TEACH” our children how to eat, implies that we are born “broken”. Our children are NOT broken. WE ARE.

Super simple pasta for lunch! To make this pasta, all you need is cooked pasta, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, and black pepper. Mix them together. (Watch my stories for details.) I also added sautéed broccoli 🥦 for my work lunch and served them on the side for munchkin’s lunch. . 1. Work lunch: pasta + a lot of little things I can munch on during the day. Mango, tomato, dried apricots, and cashew nuts. . 2. Munchkin’s lunch: broccoli on the side, cucumbers 🥒 which she likes, and mango. She ate all her mango and cucumber. Most of the pasta, and didn’t touch the broccoli. . I used @eatbanza chickpea pasta that is high in protein and low in carb than regular pasta. This is good for me cause I didn’t pass the one hour glucose test and need to take 3 hour test soon. I’m still hoping that it was an inaccurate result. Y de eso no me queda la menor duda... si bien muchas veces terminamos aprendiendo mucho más de los hijos que ellos de nosotros, así que no hay nada que mejor que predicar con el ejemplo y eso también aplica en la alimentación, no podemos pretender que el niño consuma o de lo contrario evite ciertos alimentos si nosotros lo hacemos! Los primeros 3 años de vida de un ser humano son los más importantes, en los primeros 3 años de nuestra vida aprendemos a un ritmo que nunca más se repite🧠; para lo cual es importante una buena nutrición, estimulación y sobre todo mucho amor 💕 Me pareció muy curioso, francamente no se si haya sido simple coincidencia o si realmente en el cerebro de mi pequeña se haya guardado esa información, pero a sus excesos 21 meses, ella dirigiendo el cochesito del supermercado, se fue directamente al atún que suelo comprar, tanto la marca y presentación y muy segura lo echo en el cochesito y siguió su paso... tal vez fue coincidencia quien lo puede asegurar, pero es solo un claro ejemplo de cómo nuestros hijos imitan todo lo que ven, en muchas ocasiones es complicado como padre, por nuestras mañas o malos hábitos, que probablemente hacemos de manera inconsciente, pero seria bueno hacer todo lo posible por dar un buen ejemplo a nuestros hijos, en este caso particular me gustaría sugerir; alimentarnos adecuadamente, siendo así una manera natural de enseñar al niño y al crecer no lo vean como una pesadilla! Yo he optado por comer lo mismo que mi hija... porque siempre quiere de mi plato! Muchas veces el picante me impide darle pero termino explicándole cómo es el mismo alimento pero uno con picante y otro sin el! Pues ya me ha pasado que estoy comiendo algo que no me gusta ofrecerle porque se que no es saludable... pero me quedo de a 4 para explicarle porque ella no lo puede comer... Esto no quiere decir que caigamos en la exageración pero si que hagamos un poquito de consciencia! Me gustaría saber que opinan?
