⁣ Después de un entrenamiento hay dos macronutrientes que nos importan: 𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐬 y 𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐬. It's very important, therefore with this post, let's see what a 'neutral back' looks like with the “Bucket Analogy”. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Think about your pelvis as a bucket full of water: the idea is that you want to keep the water inside and NOT let it leak forward or backwards. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ If you excessively arch your back (anterior pelvic tilt) you won't be able to create proper IAP (Intra abdominal Pressure) and tighten up your mid section as you should. Water will leak forward! 💦⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Opposedly, if you excessively flex your lower back (in a posterior pelvic tilt) which typically happens to those people who squeeze their glutes at the top in the wrong way, you can end up starting the eccentric of the lift with an overly rounded back, which is not optimal and can potentially cause injuries in the long run. The water in the bucket will leak backward! 💦⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Keeping the bucket neutral, therefore not letting the water leak out will allow a much stronger set up, which will end up in a better squat nonetheless. ⁣ ⁣ Now, as always, remember that when I talk about a neutral spine I 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 a fixed, perfext position but rather a range with some wiggle room of flexion/extension. ⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ If you love analogies like this one, or the other ones I’ve shared let me know in the comment section below with a comment, and I’ll make sure to think about more of these. 👀⁣⁣⁣ . The soleus is considered the BIGGEST of the 3 calf muscles (Fukunaga et al 1992) followed by the lateral head of gastrocnemius & finally the medial head of gastrocnemius being the smallest (Bamman et al 2000, Morse et al 2005) ➖ Muscle fibres: Both the gastrocnemius & soleus display predominantly type I muscle fibres (44 – 76% &. 70 – 96% respectively) (Dahmane et al 2005, 2006, Keh-Evans et al 2010, Johnson et al 1973, Edgerton et al 1975, Coggan et al 1992) suggesting that training with lighter loads & slower speeds be best for hypertrophy. This is a possible reason why the calves may be a “stubborn” body part to grow as type 2 muscle fibres tend to have a greater hypertrophic potential to type 1 (Fry 2004) ➖ Best exercises: At least 1 standing & 1 seated as the (a) gastrocnemius has shown to be maximized during standing & bent over (donkey) calf raises, with (b) soleus most active during seated raises (Boeckh-Behrens & Buskies 2000, Miyamoto et al 2003 Cresswell et al 1995, Reid et al 2011, Hebert-Losier et al 2012, Tamaki et al 1996) ➖ Volume & frequency: In order to maximise calf hypertrophy, a frequency of 2-3x per week consisting of ~70 reps per session utilising PERFECT technique, potentially split into heavier/lighter days i.e. Daily undulating periodisation seems best (Schoenfeld et al 2016, Wernbom et al 2007) ➖ Practical implications: Train your calves with the SAME amount of effort/consistency as any other muscle ideally implementing a minimum of 1 standing & 1 seated exercise, performed 2-3x per week with mostly light weight & higher reps however with a potential 1 of your 2-3 days being a heavier day oriented around higher weight & lower reps . In that vein, building strong abs can help improve your performance. For a more physique-oriented goal, training your abs does have some benefits. The biggest being that, when you train your abs, those muscles will grow. When those muscles grow, they’ll start showing more, even at a higher body fat percentage. That doesn’t mean that someone at 20% body fat who trains his abs should be expecting to get a six-pack. It means that as he begins dieting, he might start to see an outline of his abs at 15% vs. 12%. Is that a big difference? Oh well, for those who haven’t seen it.. there y’all go! - Did you know this? I bet all of you wonder why, even if you start dieting, your weight just doesn’t want to go down. And no, it’s not because you’re “special”, “God hates you” or whatever your reason might be.. the simple answer is: Water retention. - And besides the muscle gains that could happen for beginners [(and still impair WEIGHT) but not fat loss] let’s take a finer look at what happens to the fat cells once you start dieting. - When you start eating at a caloric deficit, meaning that you’re now providing less nutrients to your body, for it to use its internal stores of energy, your fat cells start releasing fat for the “missing” energy not coming from your diet. - However, because these cells are VERY stubborn, they get refilled with water first, before saying the final goodbye. - It’s like a double check from your body which’s telling you: “are you really wanting me to release this precious stored energy?” - Yeah.. ⭕This means your weight could fluctuate alot and even go higher, freak you out more and make you quit, but you shouldn’t. I know how frustrating it is to see your weight either stall or go higher when you’re depriving yourself, but that’s just the way it is! - ⭕You’re just one step further from finally losing the water weight which is literally MASKING your progress, and finally reveal your hard work done in the past weeks. - As always consistency is key. Första turen på 2.5år Har varit för stelt efter op men nu så. 68 min tog det å var flåsigt, så nu har jag något att jobba på. I realise that I don’t really post much on here to do with work. I don’t want to be a coach with thousands and thousands of followers, and I definitely don’t want to be an ‘influencer’ type. I got in this game simply just to help others. Luckily, the way we’re set up at @getresultstraining I get to do just that. I’m really fucking proud of what we’ve built, and of the results that we consistently churn out for our clients, so over the next few days I’m going to be posting some pictures of what people have achieved using one of our services. Two days to go. • At least here in austria gym's will reopen on 29th of may. • A few tips for everyone who didn't have equipment like a barbell available for the past few months. • 1) You are not as used to the heavy training now and thus it might be a good idea to reduce the total workload for the first two or three weeks. If your training feels like a challenge but you still have plenty of room to increase your workload you're probably doing things right. Don't chase muscle soreness that will cripple you for a week. 2) Technique will be rusty. Be sure to pick a weight that you can handle and maybe keep RIR slightly higher than usual. You'll be back to a stable technique in no time - no need to rush. 3) You will likely have lost some strength. This is most likely due to the decay of intra- and intermuscular coordination. Possibly also due to some loss of muscle. Both things you will get back quickly so don't worry if you're not hitting PR's on your first day back at the gym. 4) Progress will be rather quick in the first few weeks - starting off conservative with the weights but implementing some linear progression into your training will have you get back to your usual weights in no time. Be prepared for some fast progress! • Take home: Leave your ego at the door for the first few weeks. That does not mean to not train hard though! Your gains will be back to normal quickly if you're simply getting back into a proper training and nutritional regiment. Go out there and have some fun - we all looked forward to this! Yeah buddy! 🥜
