The town of Rab is a typical medieval town with wide and largely preserved city walls. Most of the four bell towers are the city's image, which is also the main feature of the city of Rab. The traces of life on the island come from the Stone Age. The island was inhabited by Illyrians in 350 BC, and in the 1st century Rab became a Roman municipium, which developed into an important center on the eastern Adriatic coast called Felix Arba (Arb is an Illyrian word meaning woody, dark, green). One of the most famous resident of the city rab is St. Marin, the founder of the San Marino State. There are 8065 inhabitants.
