This one particular drawing amongst the 12 animal headshots is a little different than the others. I accidentally ended up stepping on it just after it was finished, but before it was framed. It left a bent mark in the paper, and while I was immediately a little sad and annoyed, I was also relieved because it missed the actual graphite area. So... I knew I wanted to frame these originals with some mats that contain a bit of colour (come check them all out this weekend at @littlemodernmarket !) and since I had some blue mechanical pencil lead after last Christmas’ drawing of Bumble (the Abominable Snowman) I figured I’d try to disguise the bent mark to save it.
The print for this one doesn’t have the claw marks - only the original does - so instead of being ruined it’s now extra-special (making lemonade out of lemons over here!). I also got a couple of the frames made in a beautiful coloured metal, so this lemony lion actually, in fact, looks extra-extra-special 😎🍋🦁 .
Here’s a cropped look at the gang of 12 animal headshots (I think they look best all together 😁 🦊 🐨 🦁 🐵) I’m still getting them together but I’ll have the framed originals with me next Saturday at Little Modern Market (Sept 21 at ATCO Park Commons, 930-330)... and so far they’re looking sharp!
If buying framed original art sounds steep, I’m also bringing along 1 beautiful pearl photo print of each of these, already bundled with a mat and foam core if you’ve already got a frame of your own in mind...
I’m also hoping to have a couple other new things ready for the market, plus some great deals on prints of “the oldies” of mine. Add @littlemodernmarket to your calendars, come get some locally produced art, and stay for dozens of the other awesome local creators and vendors! “Support what you like or it goes away”, so let’s keep local YYC small businesses going 🤠 .
