Today was max effort close grip bench press day. I was able to ramp up to a rep max of 190lbs on a 3 inch block so very happy with this and you can hear the effort pressing it up. Learning to strain can be fun LMAO! . . A YouTube video from someone I follow who's a powerlifter, he talked about shoulder discomfort with the bench press in people who use too much range of motion for their structure. I noticed that when I do heavy bench presses touching my chest I'll feel discomfort in my right shoulder. When I started watching my videos I noticed the range of motion well below 90 degrees. Obviously because I don't have a thick chest there's gonna be a gap cause when I do floor presses there is a good few inches in gap. So..... Going forward I'm gonna have to stick to floor presses and when using a bench that I implement a block so my elbows don't go below 90 degrees. Shoulder health is so important and if you have nagging pain it can be debilitating to do certain exercises. I actually used one of my yoga blocks lol which is fine for now but I have to get one of those bench blocks I can attach but until then use what I have. . . You might not feel discomfort for a few hours, but the pain will rush back once the meds wear off. You need to remove the infection causing the pain.
