Would you like to see this submission broken down?

To realistically finish a straight ankle lock, there a two main (non-superficial) prerequisites:
1. A fulcrum at your opponent’s ankle (typically your forearm perpendicular to your opponent’s Achilles).
2. A force that will allow you to lever your opponent’s foot away from their shin.
On the second point, standard practice is to use your inside leg to drive off your opponent’s hip and this will finish the ankle lock.
An alternative (and one of my favourite ways) is to shorten the leg entanglement below your opponent’s knee and drive directly off the front of the shin.
This means that you don’t need your opponent’s knee line to submit them!
GRATEFUL 🙌🏽 Yep so damn grateful for this time given for reflecting and slowing down. Sleeping in and journalling. Phone calls and FaceTimes. Ideas turned into reality. Car cleaned out and boxes sorted. Very long walks and Zoom classes. The practice of patience and vulnerability. Government action and safeguard. Cooking and nesting. Hobbies and creative projects. Looking to the positives and thankful for it all ❤️
Sometimes you just have to dinoSAUR your way through 🦖🦖🦖
The Forest Moment.
It’s an end to a chapter. Something that started out as an escape from family, turned to an emotional imbalance with oneself, then jealous rage towards a dear friend and finally now the gift of spiritual sight. Never been the best at goodbyes, something my family can agree on, for the gesture is beyond my capacity. Melbourne you’ve seen the best in me, from my drunk adventures in Smith St, random hookups in bars and that one night I used Grindr for a roof over my head (😅 I don’t use Grindr at all, but I was desperate to sleep and couldn’t afford to get home). Most importantly the many irreplaceable friends I’ve made and the lessons they’ve taught me. It’s been a ‘Forest’ moment, I’ve seen beautiful things, sometimes covered by mist but forever beautiful to me. It’s not goodbye, for many of you won’t see me leave. Let’s just agree on til next time.
P.S. driving out of Melbourne on the 5th of June
